About me
I grew up in Denver
Raised as a single child of a single mom, I think my early childhood upbringing instilled in me the sense that all relationships are intimate, vulnerable, and sacred.
When I turned 15 my world widened - I had a dad and a baby sister in my life now. I learned that intimacy can be expanded, that vulnerability can be shared, and that sacredness is not only cultivated from the “inside” - it is brought forth from the “outside” as well.
I left Denver at the age of 21, when I moved to Seattle with my family and my girlfriend (now wife) to start a new chapter of life. Since coming to Seattle, my family has moved back to Colorado (I miss them everyday), I have received two degrees (BA in philosophy and MA in existential phenomenological psychology), and my wife and I have accumulated three cats (there is cat hair on literally everything I own).
My life now
When I’m not working, I enjoy reading and writing. Before finding the path that led to becoming a therapist I had thought of becoming a professor, and I feel that thought lives on now in my continued studies as a therapist.
I also spend a bit more time than I’d like to admit playing video games, and I used to do parkour and sometimes I miss that a lot. So, yeah, I think I’m probably also a bit of a dork.
When I can muster the will power, I try to get into the gym. I do think there’s a lot to be said for the mind-body connection, but I often find myself battling with my differing goals and ideals.
And lastly, I’m excited for the turning of autumn - as you can probably tell from the current theme of the website. Especially this year, I am looking forward to a slowing down of things, a patience, maybe a certain kind of quiet.
